While it might seem like a good idea to load your car backwards onto a U-Haul truck, it is not safe or legal. You can’t legally do this in the U-Haul truck and you can’t legally do this with a ramp.
In addition to not being safe, loading a vehicle backwards into the bed of a U-Haul truck also makes it difficult for other drivers on the road to see you and your vehicle. This could cause more accidents than there would be otherwise because people are not expecting cars coming at them from behind when they are driving on rural roads or highways.
U-Haul, the most popular do-it-yourself moving company globally, has design and safety mandates to protect the company from collisions on the highway. This means that if you load your car backwards into the trailer (or worse yet, under or over), you will be ticketed for moving violations by state inspection officers and may be fined for unsafe operation of your vehicle.
