How long it takes for a car to cool down depends on the material of the car and its size, as well as outside temperatures. Most modern cars have air conditioning systems that help cool down a vehicle’s interior, but even this doesn’t always give enough relief in extreme heat. It also depends on whether or not you have people, animals or other things in your car that are generating heat.
On average it usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes for a vehicle to cool down after being driven on hot days and up to 50 minutes if it’s parked outside in direct sunlight with the windows rolled up all day long.
Concrete floors are the hottest part of a car. If you have a concrete floor, this is where you’re going to want to place your pet carrier. It may get hotter than the seat, because it doesn’t move with the air flow from the AC or heat.
Don’t touch the steering wheel or gear shift when the car is hot. The steering wheel and gear shift can get very hot in the sun, so it’s best to not touch them while your car is parked on a sunny day (unless you want to give yourself third-degree burns). This also applies to pets and children – if they’re too small or clumsy to not burn themselves on these surfaces, let them sit in their carriers or strollers until you’re able to cool down your vehicle first!
Watch out for pets in cars. If there are any animals with you, make sure they don’t escape from their crates or carriers while you’re parked in direct sunlight – especially if those animals have long fur!
Fabric seats are the most comfortable. The soft fabric cushions and supports your body in a way that hard, plastic seats can’t. There’s no need to worry about getting sore hips or butt from sitting on a hard seat for hours at a time.
Fabric seats are the cheapest.Fabric seats last longer than leather ones, so you’ll save money in the long run by getting fabric instead of leather. And if you’re planning on selling your car someday, having an older car with fabric seats will help get more money for it than one with older leather upholstery might!
Fabric-covered seats are easier to clean than leather ones because water doesn’t affect them as much as it does leather–so if you spill something on your seat while eating breakfast before work (guilty), just wipe away any stains instead of needing special products like Leatherique Car Care Products: Cleaner & Conditioner 16 oz Bottle Spray Bottle which costs $15 per bottle!
